SECOND GRADE
Second grade? Wow! We're going to learn about all sorts of things: how hound dogs make people think about Tennessee; how you pay taxes every time you buy a candy bar; how to make a map of the state by drawing a funny box, four lines, and four dots. It's gonna be fun! We've divided it into two sections: 1) Elementary civics 2) Elementary geography This text was written by Bill Carey, with editing assistance from the following people: * Brenda Ables (social studies coordinator, Tennessee Department of Education) * Dr. Pamela Bobo (assistant professor of history, Tennessee State University) * Shari Bray (second grade teacher, Sylvan Park Elementary, Nashville) * Amy Byrum (parent, Mt. Juliet) * Dr. Derek Frisby (assistant professor of history, Middle Tennessee State University) * Jill Gray, (second grade teacher, Norman Smith Elementary, Montgomery County) * Gay Page (second grade teacher, Sango Elementary, Montgomery County) |
